Supporting relief of poverty & the most vulnerable

Founded in 2020, The Green Village has been working hard with the help of our donors and volunteers to help individuals across Afghanistan. From suporting the now to tackling long term issues and growing the future, we at The Green Village works to alleviate poverty through a range of varied and important areas.

Our work is dedicated to funding and delivering charitable services. We strive to inspire and improve the lives of those who need our assistance the most. Driven by a firm belief in the power of humanity, and we work hard to ease the burdens faced by those we work with. Although we helped several families over the last ten years, we have realised that alone we can do so little, but together with your help we can do so much more.

So join us to make the communities in Afghanistan a better one, where people of all ages and backgrounds get a fair chance in life. Each one of us can make a difference. Toegther we can make chnage.

Lost generation

It is all too easy to adopt a bleak view of the future for Afghanistan, to wave a white flag and accept that the ‘lost generation’ is just that: lost. But, this does not need to be the case. There is indeed much that can be done to improve the lives of the citizens of Afghanistan.

A young boy...

A plastic bag flutters in the desert wind brushing a desolate Afghan landscape. A young boy grasps a string that not only keeps the bag from flying away but also provides a tenuous grip on his fading childhood. For Afghan children, kite flying …

To reduce poverty, Afghanistan must focus on strengthening agriculture, investing in human development and managing and mitigating risks that increase poor people's vulnerability.

To drive this agenda and give the best opportunity to create a brighter future for generations to come, we hope to establish grant and scholarship schemes. These will help in providing the financial support needed to transform life’s across all ages, ethnicity, sex and religion.

Afghanistan is in the midst of an almost perfect storm of challenges and hardship. In 2020, almost a quarter of the population (9.4 million) will need humanitarian assistance, more than half of whom are children.

To mitigate some of these challenges and save lives, where people are most vulnerable, we aim to provide support where needed. Whether it is getting the right tools, providing knowledge or the necessities to help those that need it the most, and their communities we will support.

Lack of education, livelihoods and access to basic services contribute to Afghan poverty. Poor people in Afghanistan are less likely to have access to electricity (64%), education (77%), safe drinking water (40%), and sanitation (3%).

To break this cycle, we plan to support and build a foundation of essential services such as clean water, good hygiene practices and basic community infrastructure. This will greatly help in the survival and development of children and families that have nothing.
